The living center of Capri, otherwise known as the Piazza Umberto I. For ever considered to be the heart of the town. La Piazzetta, once the fish and vegetable market, became the social center for the people when, after 1938, a young local, Raffaele Vuotto, had the idea of putting a few tables out. This has now become a favourite meeting place not only for the rich and famous but for the daily crowd of tourists visiting the island.

Frequented by intellectuals since the nineteen hundreds, Anacapri is the highest part of the island. It gets its name from the Greek meaning “above Capri”. The abundance of the wildlife and above all the flowers, blessed with a climate that is always mild, always wins admiring looks from visitors. From Anacapri one can admire the Scala Fenicia connecting Capri with Anacapri; the Villa Saan Michele the home of the celebrated Swedish doctor Axel Munthe; The Barbarossa castle; The magnificent baroque church of San Michele Arcangelo and the largest church in the area, Santa Sophia.

Whoever travels to Capri cannot and should not resist the temptation to take a boat trip round the island. The innumerable boarding points in the Marina Grande allow a trip to be made around the island in about two hours. The Blue Grotto is undoubtedly the most famous cave in Capri. Tourists are spellbound by the incomparable beauty of the azure water which reflects onto the walls while the white sand of the seabed shines silver on anything underwater. To complete this scene there are local fishermen singing beautiful Neapolitan songs, which add to the romantic memories of all visitors.
